operation80 is a fic challenge wherein you take one of the 80 TOS episodes and rewrite it in the Reboot universe. *_* There is no way you can tell me that's not anazing beyond belief! I'm SOOOO EXCITED about it--signups start on December 10th, but posting doesn't start till February, and you've got until the end of March, which is PLENTY of time! Summary: After the bar fight, Nyota thinks to herself that if this is what being hit on by Jim Kirk leads to, she’s very glad she’s never going to have to see him again.
I could never say enough good things about this fic. It's probably one of my favorite Uhura portrayals ever--just so skilled and clever and beautiful. If you like Uhura and you like Kirk, you should ABSOLUTELY read this.

AHHH I love this so much. I'm a huge folklore geek, so the meta in here is just stunningly delightful. And clever! I love how the author translated the idea of the Trickster to Vulcan. JUST SO COOL.

Summary: An explanation of scale! (Space is big.)
This is more of a "useful thing" than an actual story, but omg, if you write or read Star Trek fic (especially if you write it), you should read this. It's an explanation of the size of the universe on a scale us mere mortals can understand! Or, in other words, why it doesn't make sense when the Enterprise "zooms from one end of the Milky Way to the other in an instant."

Look, I don't want to spam you guys, so I'm just sticking this all in one post. *grin*

Summary: “Commander Spock, we have located your son,” the Vulcan lady on the screen says, which would be great, except Jim can tell by the look on Spock’s face that he’s never heard of this kid before in his life. “If it is expedient, the child will be sent to join you on the Enterprise within the week.”

This is just AWESOME. It's funny, clever, plotty, deliciously longggg, and just very well-written. DELIGHTFULLY well-written, in fact, AND it's good kidfic. I LOVE kidfic, but honestly, a lot of the time it's pretty unrealistic, with supercuddly kids and easy parenting. This fic actually takes into account how hard it is to raise another human being, haha, and does so while cultivating this really lovely romance AND keeping up exciting plots. Really, it's just great. You'll like it! Promise. :D

Reconciliation by betweenthebliss
Summary : On the border of the Neutral Zone, the Enterprise runs into the Battlestar Galactica, reuniting Kirk with his old friend Kara Thrace. The Colonials are in trouble; their ship has been damaged and Admiral Adama taken hostage by cylons newly allied with the Romulan Empire. Eager for proof of an alliance that could endanger the entire Federation, Kirk commits the Enterprise to helping the Colonials out; but as usual, nothing goes according to plan.

Yeah yeah, I did the art for this one--but that is really, truly, honestly not why I am reccing it. I am reccing it because it is fucking amazing, you guys. SO GOOD. Every time I think about it I get all giddy and incoherent and admiring--it's so SUBTLE and friggin' perfect and I don't care if you haven't watched BSG, this makes perfect sense without. It's intense, suspenseful, atmospheric, and just stunningly well-crafted. Read it.

A question! Do any of you guys use Twitter? I have singingintime registered over there, mainly just because I wanted to get it before anyone else did (which is silly of me, I suppose, as it's not that common, is it? ANYWAY), but I'm not using it for anything. I have been trying to come up with a good potential use for it! So far my two ideas are: use it for one-sentence fics (you know, a whole story in a sentence) or use it to keep people updated when I post something new. Is there any demand for either of those? If not, I'll just keep twiddling my thumbs over here until I can think of something more exciting to do with it. :D

1) I finally made a masterlist of fic in the Stars and Planets 'verse. I'll try to keep that updated regularly, including timestamps that normally wouldn't go in my sticky fic post because they're too short. Yay!

2) Re: this poll, which I'll leave up until Decemberish and which you should take if you're interested in downloadable forms of any of my fic: I didn't realize there was any demand at all for PDFs of my fic or I would have made some long ago, as PDFs are easy-peasy! D: Now that I know more than one person is interested, I want to do it RIGHT NOW, but I did say it was going to be a holiday gift, didn't I, so I suppose I shall make myself wait a bit. *sigh* Also, I am pleased there is a little interest in podfic! I've never done podfic before, but it's something I'm interested in experimenting with. I may record a short practice thing and ask you guys for constructive criticism at some point soon, so keep your eyes peeled. (Er, figuratively.)

3) *coughs and blushes* As well you know, this is my Star Trek fic journal--however, I do have another one in which I a) blather on about my real life, b) write fic for Supernatural, CW RPS, and anything else that strikes my fancy, and c) am generally insane.
